This is the second of four meetings between the clubs this season. The Capitals won this past Saturday in overtime at Nassau Coliseum, 3-2. They trailed, 2-0, early in the third period but got goals from Keith Aucoin and Mike Green to force overtime. Brooks Laich scored the OT winner. While the streaking Capitals are going after their League-best seventh victory in a row after winning in Atlanta, 4-3, Thursday, the Islanders are going after their coveted second straight win. They beat the Rangers, 3-1, Wednesday for their first regulation win of the season.

Now we'll see what one regulation win can do for a team that had often been so close. The Islanders lead the NHL with five losses in either overtime or the shootout. They also lost by a single goal to Los Angeles. However, they played a solid 60 minutes against the Rangers and took home a 3-1 victory. Perhaps the best thing to come out of Wednesday's win was that instead of giving up the lead as they did against Washington last Saturday, they built on it. John Tavares scored with 5:06 remaining to extend the lead to 3-1. Dwayne Roloson made 34 saves, including 15 in the third period.

Ugly or pretty, it hasn't mattered. The Caps are winning. They held on to beat Atlanta on Thursday despite giving up 41 shots on goal, a season-high for the Thrashers. Alex Ovechkin has four goals and an assist over the last two games after going goalless over the previous three games. Nicklas Backstrom went pointless in those same three games, but he has a goal and four assists in the last two. Jose Theodore should get the start tonight and he's coming off perhaps his best effort ever as a Cap. He made 41 saves in a 4-2 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday. Of concern, though, is the way the Caps have played in the third period over the last two games. The Flyers and Thrashers each had 20 shots in the final period, but they were trying to mount comebacks.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Columbus Blue Jackets Live Online Streaming

First and only meeting this season between inter-conference opponents. Pittsburgh won the lone meeting of 2008-09 with a 4-1 win at Mellon Arena on Feb. 6 -- defenseman Kris Letang scored a pair of goals, his second multi-goal effort in 10 days, and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 shots. Any challenges the defending Stanley Cup champs have faced in the early going, they've been up for. Now the Penguins have to deal without superstar forward Evgeni Malkin for the next two or three weeks thanks to a shoulder injury. They head into Nationwide Arena in Columbus, where the Blue Jackets have won three of four this season.

When Pittsburgh lost defenseman Sergei Gonchar long term to a broken left wrist, it was old hat -- the team survived much of last season without their power-play quarterback. Malkin, however, was a veritable iron man, having played in 254 straight regular-season games before the shoulder injury. He had been playing through it, but the decision was made to let the injury heal, rather than risk making it worse with 70 games left on the schedule.

The best start in franchise history is now a thing of the past, and Columbus must regroup after dropping four of its last five, including its first home loss, 4-1 to Phoenix, on Wednesday. Last season's Calder Trophy winner, Steve Mason, has struggled as much as anyone, allowing 20 goals over his last four starts with an .811 save percentage. "Too many plays with the puck that are too light that come back to haunt us," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We're paying for the errors we make. We're not doing the things in the competitive areas that we need to do. We had a decent first period and then the turnover machine in the second. We're going to have to roll up our sleeves and dig in."

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Buffalo Sabres Live Online Streaming

First meeting this year, but the Sabres hold a five-game winning streak over their Northeast Division rivals, two at home and three at the Air Canada Centre. The last win for the Leafs was on Dec. 12, 2008, a 2-1 victory in Buffalo. No question it's Buffalo's perfect three-game road trip, capped off with a solid 4-1 effort over the Devils at the Rock Wednesday night. The Sabres allowed two goals or fewer in each game on the trip.

They only have one win to show for it, but the last four games have shown a clear improvement for the Leafs. The offense broke out in their 6-3 win over the Ducks, but another solid effort in Dallas was overshadowed by a 4-3 overtime loss. One reason the Leafs are playing with more confidence is that Jonas Gustavsson is back in nets after missing time with a groin injury."He's played very well, kind of the way we've expected him to play," coach Ron Wilson said Thursday. "You see us being a little more confident in how we play when we know we're getting big saves back there at the right time."

The 10-game mark was an important one for 19-year-old defenseman Tyler Myers. It's the point when his three-year rookie contract kicks in, and management had the option of sending him back to his junior team in Kelowna. But he has two goals and three assists in his first nine games, plus a highlight-reel shootout goal in the Sabres' 3-2 win at Tampa Saturday night. So important to the team's early success he was that Sabres management is willing to put up with the fact that free agency will come a year earlier for him than other members of his draft class.

This is the first and only game between the Rangers and Wild this season. New York defeated Minnesota 2-1 in the clubs' only contest last season on March 24, 2009, at Madison Square Garden. Current Ranger Marian Gaborik scored the only goal for the Wild.

New York won seven of its first eight games of the season, but has dropped four of its last five. Wednesday marked the first time that the Rangers played without Gaborik, and his absence was noticeable in the loss to the Islanders. P.A. Parenteau, who was recalled from Hartford (AHL) to fill in for Gaborik, scored his first NHL goal for the Blueshirts. It was the first time this season that they scored less than two goals in a game.

The Wild have had a problem scoring this season -- their 26 goals are the fewest in the Northwest Division, and their six points are in last in the Western Conference. Like the Rangers, Minnesota has several important scorers struggling to find the back of the net as center Eric Belanger hasn't tallied in his last seven games and right wing Martin Havlat -- brought in to replace Gaborik -- hasn't registered a point since the Wild's third game of the season. The Wild are 3-1-0 at home but are coming off their first loss at the XcelEnergyCenter, 4-3 to Nashville on Wednesday night.

Not only did the Panthers and Stars split their two-game series last season, but the teams also scored 7 goals apiece. Florida did outshoot Dallas by the slimmest of margins, 61-60. This contest will mark the first and only meeting of the 2009-10 campaign between the clubs. After coming so close to qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in eight seasons in 2008-09 -- giving their fans some hope this season would complete the turnaround -- the Panthers have struggled mightily out of gate. Florida, which just can't seem to get the positive bounces these days, is currently 29th in the League with 5 points.

While much of the talk has been centered around the negative, including the injuries to Radek Dvorak (leg) and David Booth (concussion), there was some positive news this week when Florida general manager Randy Sexton said rookie defenseman Dmitry Kulikov will remain with the team for the foreseeable future. Kulikov's three-year entry-level contract kicked in on Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators -- his 10th game of the season. In addition to seeing plenty of ice time, Florida coach Peter DeBoer also has Kulikov on Florida's top power-play unit.

Center Steve Ott received the third suspension of his career after the League ruled he'd sit two games for a check on St. Louis Blues defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo last Saturday. Ott is eligible to return Saturday against Nashville. The club should be feeling pretty good right now after ending a four-game stretch of overtime futility on Wednesday following a 4-3 victory over Toronto. Dallas had lost three shootouts and one OT contest before notching the win against the Maple Leafs in the extra session.

Montreal Canadiens vs Chicago Blackhawks Live Online Streaming

This will be the only meeting of the season for Montreal and Chicago. The Habs took their lone matchup last season with the Hawks, 4-1, on March 31. Both teams will look to rebound from mid-week losses in the latest renewal of an Original Six rivalry.

Montreal is coming to Chicago in search of some relief after watching its four-game winning streak disappear in painful fashion Wednesday. The Canadiens spent their last outing on the business end of a 6-1 trouncing by the Penguins, powered by a Sidney Crosby hat trick. The rough outing may signal the end of a run of action for Jaroslav Halak. While Halak is supposedly the backup to netminder Carey Price, the Slovak has started the Habs' last five games, but the loss to Pittsburgh has reportedly opened the door for Price to make his return to the net.

Like the Canadiens, the Hawks are also looking to turn around their fortunes. After a strong start to the season, Chicago has seemed average at best over the past two weeks, going 2-3 in its last five games -- a stretch that included a four-game homestand. The Hawks struggled in their last outing, a 2-0 loss to Pekka Rinne and the Predators, but Brent Seabrook played for the first time since leaving a loss to the Canucks on Oct. 21 with concussion-like symptoms.

The Hawks got more good news this week, as Marian Hossa skated for the first time this season, but he is still a few weeks from making his return to the ice. Chicago remains without captain Jonathan Toews, who has also not played since the loss to Vancouver. Regardless, Chicago is not playing as well as coach Joel Quenneville would probably like as the month winds down. A win against the Habs could get the Hawks back on track.

First of four meetings this season. Vancouver and Anaheim each won twice last season, but the Canucks (2-0-2) gained six points to five for the Ducks (2-1-1). That included a Halloween 2008 thriller in which defenseman Mattias Ohlund beat Jonas Hiller in the 13th round of a shootout to finally clinch the victory.

It definitely wasn't a high-octane offense that earned two points for Vancouver -- just 12 shots through regulation -- but Mikael Samuelsson's goal in the first period led to a 1-1 tie through 65 minutes. Ryan Kesler and the Kings' Jack Johnson traded goals early in the penalty-shot tiebreaker before Samuelsson struck again to pick up the coveted second point.

If this isn't rock bottom, it's got to be awfully close. Anaheim has lost four in a row -- all on home ice -- and the most recent one came Monday to a previously winless Toronto squad. Since then the Ducks have had three days off to mull things over, so they can't wait to get back on the ice and try to salvage what's left of a six-game homestand that began promisingly with a win over Minnesota. "Definitely in our situation, it would be easier if we played more games," Hiller said. "On the other hand, we'll take the rest and those days. It's going to be better next week. We have back-to-back games coming up and not much break in between games. We are looking forward to that and hopefully that will help us."

This is the second of four meetings between the clubs this season and a rematch of Colorado's season-opening 5-2 win in Denver when Wojtek Wolski scored twice and Craig Anderson stopped 38 of 40 shots for the win. Patrick Marleau had both of the Sharks' goals. The two hottest teams in the West go head to head in the Shark Tank. Colorado is also the top team in the NHL while the Sharks have won three straight to climb back up the standings. It's arguably the game of the night.

At what point do we stop marveling over the success this team is having and just maybe, perhaps even a snippet, start believing the Avs are this good? They came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Calgary, 3-2, Wednesday for their fourth win in a row. Anderson is getting a boatload of deserved credit for his amazing start and a lot is being said of teenaged rookies Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly, but perhaps overlooked is the stellar play of defensemen Kyle Quincey and Scott Hannan. They are the Avs' leaders in ice time and have combined for 14 points and a plus-15 rating. Brett Clark and Adam Foote are also playing well, but it should be noted that the Avs have allowed the fourth most shots against per game (33.2) among all 30 NHL teams this season. Coach Joe Sacco isn't too concerned because a lot are coming from the outside.

Special teams has been key to the Sharks overall success this season as they were fifth in the NHL on the power play (27.8 percent) and eighth in penalty killing (82.7 percent) after Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over L.A. The penalty-kill percentage is somewhat remarkable considering the Sharks, entering Thursday, were 29th in the NHL in penalty minutes (193) and were averaging 4.5 minors per game. They have been shorthanded 52 times, which is four times per game, but they have cut that down to 2.8 over their last six games and have gone 5-1-0. They started the season 3-3-1 and were giving up five power-play chances per game
